I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Very insightful concerning early Radio programs, cartoons etc.
For a used copy, it is in excellent condition. You can hardly tell that it is used.
It is a heart warming to share the life of this remarkable man. He does not pull punches but he is also kind and generous to so many people he met across the breadth of American entertainment.
Let's face it, I love the Looney Tunes cartoons... you should know that going into this review.
Huge fan of voice actors and I was really looking forward to this book. It came and in better shape than I anticipated!!
Interesting autobiographical abridged account of Mel Blanc, the Man of a Thousand(at least) Voices. The good times and bad are written for your perusal and it is an interesting read.
Beside an indepth view of "the film industry's cartoon genre(entertainment and the financial side of it)", Mel Blanc also gives an indepth look at his private life(incl a serious auto accident in 1961 in which he was in a semi-coma for 3 weeks) and the great rapport that he had with so many in the film industry and also Presidents*..(*Pg 261 :Re his long time friendship with President Ronald Regan),who along with First Lady Nancy Regan had been onetime acting colleagues).
Though the man left us in 1989, Mel Blanc will forever live on in the characters he voiced. This book provides biographical information as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the activities of the Warner Brothers studio.
In these times it's important to laugh, and Mel Blanc's delightful memoir provides countless opportunities to do exactly that. At the same time, this heartwarming story doesn't shy away from serious issues of the twentieth century in which Mel Blanc lived.
