An invitation to computer science

With a Master's Degree in Computer Science and over 7 years on the job experience, I can say this book is the best introductory book I have ever read. It refuses to allow one to dive too fast into "programming" and instead encourages a strong foundation of basic knowledge that underlies the field of Computer Science before one embarks into any individual programming language approach.

I am actually getting a major in Computer Science and this book was my very first. I think it is a brutal introduction because there is not that much information in the book to help you solve the problems that I think are way too complicated for first timers.
